Beautiful. My sister has a really nice photo she shot of one in her neighborhood once but all I saw was the white ones (and a king fisher and a pair of sunbirds and some hawks).
Your sister is in North Queensland, right? I think (and someone correct me if I am wrong) that these birds tend to live further South. King fishers are cool though. And birds of prey!
We fed some of these at the San Deigo Wild Animal Park. You're given a wee cup of nectar (probably sugar water) and you walk into this huge aviary and the brids will sit on a branch (or on your hand if you're lucky) and sip the nectar! Their colours are quite vibrant in person!
Same here. This was actually next to a school so can only assume that the kids must put seed out for them normally. I don't think they are the kind of birds that scavenge normally.

Yes she is. I think they do have them there, I saw a couple in Cairns, but they are shy.
